Best Places to Eat in Homer, Alaska
Homer holds a treasure trove of amazing restaurants for all the foodies out there! I've compiled a list of the must-visit places if you need a fantastic meal, a drink, or a delicious treat!
1. Cosmic Kitchen
A mix of mexican food and american classics, this menu is sure to have something to fit everyone's taste buds. From massive burritos and tacos to classic american breakfasts, you absolutely cannot go wrong with anything on the menu. My personal favorites are the french toast and the grilled cheese. Simple, yet absolutely delectable! The quaint restaurant is nearly always busy, and has a cozy vibe once inside.
2. Finn's Pizza
If you're looking for pizza with a view, Finn's is the way to go. Found on the Spit, Finn's Pizza is made with locally grown ingredients and cooked in a brick oven for the classic pizza taste. Although the pizza tastes phenomenal, the atmosphere of Finn's is really what makes it so special. All of the seating for the restaurant is inside a greenhouse type room. A hardwood rustic feel, but with windows covering every wall, allowing you to fully enjoy the beautiful view of the bay.

3. Wild Honey
Throughout my time in Homer, Wild Honey grew to be one of my favorite places to visit. Specializing in crepes, both sweet and savory, made with local ingredients, the little shop, and the owners, give a comforting and welcoming feel every time you step foot in their doors. And their food does not disappoint. My favorite crepe is the chocolate salted caramel, so I definitely recommend giving it a try. And treat yourself to a mimosa while you're at it!
4. Fat Olives
If you are in town and in need of good pizza, Fat Olives is a guarantee to fulfill your taste buds. The brick oven pizza is absolutely fantastic, and with a variety of other choices on the menu, Fat Olives is sure to please everyone in the family. They even sell pizza by the slice, so feel free to stop in for a slice and a nice cold beer. The restaurant has a rustic bar feel, and makes for a great night out with friends and family!
5. The Salty Dawg Saloon
For those that are of age, the Salty Dawg Saloon is an iconic location along the Homer Spit. Known for the thousands of dollar bills signed by visitors that line the walls of the dim-lit bar, the Salty Dawg is a unique destination. The building itself was one of the first to exist in Homer, and throughout its time, has served as a post office, a grocery store, a railroad station, and a schoolhouse, among many others. The rich history of the building, and the iconic lighthouse, make this bar a sought out place.
6. Carmen's Gelato
Based on the Spit, Carmen's Gelato is a must-go place if you're looking for a decadent treat. The gelato they serve is some of the best I've had (and I work in a gelato shop!). It's super creamy and the flavors are so rich. So while you are in the area, be sure to stop in and grab some to try!
7. Two Sisters Bakery
When in need of a classic bakery, Two Sisters never disappoints. With coffee, pastries, sandwiches, fresh bread, soup, and more, this cafe is the perfect place to stop and relax at any point in the day. With indoor and outdoor seating, you will be sure to find somewhere to sit back, relax, and enjoy your time here!
8. AJ's Oldtown Steakhouse and Tavern
A classic american steakhouse, you cannot go wrong with AJ's. From steak filet, to scallops, and chicken caesar salads, they do all the classics. And its all done great! Every meal I've had there was absolutely fantastic, and they never disappoint. If you're looking for quality food, AJ's will not disappoint!
