Talkeetna, AK

Writer: Samantha RothSamantha Roth

On the road trip up to Denali National Park, we stopped in the small town of Talkeetna. We weren’t expecting much, just a bite to eat and possible views of Denali. When we got to the town we were blown away by how cute it was. There were tons of gift shops, small restaurants and coffee houses, and friendly people everywhere. We ate lunch at a super cute, and wicked good pizza place, Mountain High Pizza Pies, which we later found out was rated the best pizza in all of Alaska.

Talkeetna’s main attraction is the (supposed) views of Denali from across the river. The Talkeetna River itself is beautiful, and the views were stunning. However, we were not able to see Denali. It was far too cloudy to see it from so far away.

Further up the road, we stopped at Denali State Park, which is supposedly the best place to see Denali (on a clear day). We didn’t see much, but it was still interesting to visit.
