The Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center - Girdwood, AK

Writer: Samantha RothSamantha Roth

A pit stop on the way to our final destination, and a must-do for the wildlife lover in me, the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center is a great day trip for families.

While my family and I were in Alaska, we did not particularly luck out in terms of weather and wildlife. This center gave us the opportunity to see all of the iconic Alaskan wildlife species in one place. Additionally, after learning more about the center, I learned that this center played a major role in restoring the population of the wood bison, which nearly went extinct, and continue to play a part in conservation efforts.

I got to see a lot of animals that I would not have seen else wise, as they are not found near where I was residing. If you are in the area, I definitely recommend visiting the center!
